small update

Just a few things to say today.

First, I’m now writing the last third of Forever Dark, so my concentration is on that. It’s been a struggle in a few places again. I took some wrong turns and the story stalled on me, so I tore out what wasn’t working and went back to where it was. This resulted in some awesome writing that is definitely staying. This is just another reminder to me that if something seems wrong, it is. The further along I get from that nexus point of where I got off the right path, the harder it gets to continue, until I can’t push through the brambles. I have to get back to the right path and let it lead me where the story is meant to go.

So, Forever Dark is once again on the right track and the writing is flowing, after I cut out about a thousand words or so. (I know on Facebook I said 2,000, but I think I overestimated.)

And that brings me to my second update: how to follow me. I’ve listed where to find me on all of my webpages. If you’re not on Facebook, you’re missing out on a lot. I tend to prefer the short updates there than to writing long blog posts. I put so much work into writing my stories that it’s easy to take a short break, post a little something there, and get back to work. Blogging takes more time and effort, which keeps me from getting back into the writing of the actual stories. This is why I don’t blog very frequently. You can follow only my blog and/or website if you don’t like Facebook and still get the main news on my writing, but you’re missing out on some fun interactions. I apologize to anyone who detests FB and refuses to use them, but it’s just easier for me to interact with readers. You can find my general author page (for ALL of my writing, not just the Starfire Angels series) at facebook.com/melanienilles.

Third…Is there a third point I wanted to make? Let me think…

Nope. I guess that was it for today. Have a great week!
