If you can’t see the side mirrors of a truck hauling something, you are too. damn. CLOSE!
Seriously, if you can’t see the side mirrors, the driver probably can’t see you. And if you’re tailgating that close behind a livestock or horse trailer, you’re not only putting your life in danger, but also the lives of the animals inside that trailer.
If I, as a driver of the truck towing the trailer down interstate at the speed limit of 75 mph, have to hit the brakes or hit a deer that jumps out on the road, guess what’s going to happen?
Not pretty. And If I live, you will be reimbursing me the value of EVERYTHING, including the value of that most beloved hooved animal that money really can’t replace.
And it’s not only livestock but also tractor-trailors. And guess what else…those signs on the back of trucks that say “Stay Back 50 Feet” are there for YOUR SAFETY.
So, as a word of caution to the driver of the blue Ford Mustang tailgating my trailer today on interstate, dude, you’re giving your guardian angels heart attacks.
