March 5th, 2008 by MelanieDear Readers, apparently there is some push to do away with the Reading Is Fundamental program. As a writer, mother, and daycare provider, I MUST protest. RIF is a program encouraging kids to read. It’s already proven that young people read fewer books than previous generations. Reading comprehension is important, and that takes practice. Practice means reading, for enjoyment, for information, and for FUN. This program promotes literacy. Please show your support.
